Swim Test for Children

ION-Saved_BOW4604Swim Test Information
Children 14 years of age or older may use the pool unaccompanied by an adult during pool hours. Children 10-13 years old who pass a swimming test, provided by the I’On Club Aquatics Director and with parental consent, may attend the pool unaccompanied by an adult when a lifeguard is on duty.  Inexperienced swimmers and children 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older at all times.

In order to pass the swim test, children must pass a written pool rules test scoring at least 80% and successfully complete the following:

Swim 2 lengths of the pool unassisted and without stopping;
Tread water for 2 minutes.

A child who passes the swim test will be added to the completed swim test list located at the front desk in the clubhouse.  Upon entering the facility, each child will need to scan their key-tag and tell the front desk receptionist that they are here to use the pool without adult supervision. The front desk receptionist will then verify the child’s identity with the information and picture on file.

The I’On Club staff may revoke this privilege if a child fails to obey the pool safety rules or their conduct is disturbing others.  To schedule a swim test, please call 843-971-7834 and request to speak to the Aquatics Director.
