Bob was born and raised in (Sandy Hook) Newtown Connecticut. He spent time in Charlotte N.C but soon moved to Stuart Florida in 1990 to achieve a career as a golf professional. He enrolled in PGA Business School and passed his Players Ability Test on the first attempt in 1992. He worked his way up through the ranks in the industry and for the past 15 years has held positions of Head Golf Professional and General Manager of clubs, for most of his career. Employed by management companies has allowed Bob to travel from the Southeast to the Midwest and manage both public and private clubs. He met his wife Debbie in 1999, who was also a golf professional in Stuart, they married in 2004 and have had the benefit of working together for the past 12 years. They have one son Curt, who lives in Debbie’s home state of Alabama, with his wife Nickey and their 3 sons Cody, Colin and Corey.
One of Bob’s accolades includes a prestigious award of over ninety clubs nationwide, awarded by former employer Eagle Golf (Evergreen Alliance Golf Limited) for “Best New General Manager of the Year along with Most Improved Food and Beverage Operations of the Year Award.” Bob has enjoyed being part of the team of Mosaic Golf and Resorts since 2010. You can expect to see Bob out and around the club as he enjoys having an opportunity to interact with members and bring about enhancements to the I’On Club!
Maggie comes to us from Burn San Francisco as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. She believes exercise to be an essential part of a healthy and happy lifestyle, providing not only physical benefits, but mental and psychological nurturing as well. As a lifelong athlete, coach and trainer, Maggie has experienced firsthand the transformative power of fitness, and strives to share this experience with The I’On Club members. Drawing on a wide range of exercise disciplines, such as Pilates, weight training, plyometrics, and kickboxing, Maggie’s workouts are effective, dynamic, engaging, and fun!
Emzi Wewers joined the I’On Club team in July 2015. She brings with her an extensive background in Club membership, events, marketing and overall Club operations. Emzi’s club career began in golf at Patriots Point Links and she spent 10 years at RiverTowne Country Club. She was also lucky enough to spend 5 months working at Walt Disney World as part of the WDW College Program.
Emzi grew up in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. She moved to Charleston to attend Johnson and Wales University and never left. She lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband, Drew, and son, Quinn.
Chef Owen Gaube grew up in an Italian family in Ithaca, New York. As a child he watched his mother and grandmother prepare traditional Italian meals from scratch. This ignited a culinary passion which led him to Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, SC in 1999. After graduating and working in several Italian restaurants in Charleston he took his talents to Beaufort, SC where he developed a deeper love and appreciation for fresh and local seafood and produce. Despite his love for the city of Beaufort, Charleston called him home. Upon his arrival back into Charleston he worked as a Chef for Trattoria Lucca and opened their sister restaurant Coda del Pesce where he honed his culinary skills. His culinary adventure has now led him to the Porch Restaurant at I’On Club. Chef Gaube is equally inspired by and versatile in cooking with local and international ingredients. He strongly believes in sourcing locally and elevating flavors. His philosophy is that a meal should be an occasion and memorable. He is excited to lead the culinary team at I’On Club!
Jen grew up in Novi, Michigan and then attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI where she received her Bachelor of Science, Interdisciplinary Studies in Health & minor in Psychology. After graduating in 2011, she moved to Charleston to pursue a master’s degree from MUSC. Jen currently works in home health care in addition to her time spent here at the I’On Club. You will see Jen and her team at the front desk when you enter the club. They are a great resource to our member and always look forward to visitors…stop by and say hello!
Coach Courtney has 35 years of competitive experience in swimming in New Jersey, Vermont, and Michigan. He has 17 years of coaching in Vermont and South Carolina with all age groups and levels. During his 12 years of coaching in Charleston, Courtney has personally developed multiple kids from novice all the way through to Zone and Sectional teams, and has also assisted in helping kids achieve National qualifications.
Courtney began his swim career in Princeton, NJ and continued in high school in Vermont. He was the first swimmer from Vermont to achieve Junior National and Senior National qualifying times, and was also the first to win an Eastern Zone Championship. At the University of Michigan, Courtney earned All-Big 10 and All-American honors in multiple events, and was also named to the Academic All-Big 10 team for his entire career at U-M. He was a member of multiple Big 10 Championship teams and the 1995 National Championship team. During his years at Michigan he trained with and was mentored by many Olympic medalists, champions, and world record holders.
Courtney brings to I’On a wealth of world-class knowledge in the sport and has an intense passion for swimming. He loves teaching all skill levels and will always push swimmers to their limit!
Director of High Performance Junior DevelopmentMehdi was born in Paris, France and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He played junior tennis at Ottawa’s famous Rideau Tennis and Squash Club. Mehdi was an active athlete, earning a starting position in every high school discipline he pursued, including soccer, volleyball, basketball, Olympic handball, badminton and track and field. After studying journalism in college he moved to Myrtle Beach to begin a successful career with the town’s daily newspaper. He left the newspaper to become the assistant tennis professional at Prestwick Tennis and Swim Club in Myrtle Beach and a few years later, its Director of Swim and Tennis. Mehdi will bring extensive knowledge and experience to I’On Club’s junior and adult development and can sum up his tennis philosophy in three words: Care, Impact, and Performance.
